Jen Rosenblit: I’m Gonna Need Another One. 29.11.2018, Sophiensaele, Berlin.

Each time I see Jen Rosenblit perform I’m struck by how aware she is of what is going on inside and outside her body at the same time, of how relational her approach to choreography and performance is. In l’m Gonna Need Another One, Rosenblit problematizes different aspects of contemporary life (like the way architecture and online existence shape human experience) through a subtle and complex embodiment of different characters that blur into one another. Through watching her do and undo that world she’s navigating and dragging spectators into, I feel stimulated to also be reflexive and playful, both during and after the show. “You two seem to know each other very well”, she tells me and my friend sitting next to me as she addresses people in the audience – “can you tell us about something that that person really enjoys?”.
